ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Adelle studied English, art and drama at the University of Alberta in the late ‘60s, and later, art history at the University of Calgary. She also pursued a year of self-study of art and architecture in Europe. Her earlier works were highly detailed and representational, but she later moved towards greater abstraction in her landscapes, exploring them as architectural landforms. She was particularly intrigued by the layered pre-history of the Badlands of Alberta. In 2004, she moved to Victoria to be close to the ocean, where she became known for her textured, ethereal seascapes. She continued to explore the use of colour and to experiment with forms. Latterly she became a local fixture at the annual TD Moss Street Paint-In held in Victoria. Her work was featured in group exhibits held in several leading galleries in Vancouver and Victoria, BC (including the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria), as well as in Calgary. Her paintings are to be found in Canadian museums such as the Royal Tyrrell Museum of Paleontology, Drumheller, and in various corporate (Calgary Petroleum Club, Gulf Canada) and private collections. She taught both professionally and privately, and was an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and the Alberta Society of Artists.
