Patricia (Pat) Pelletier spent her childhood in Edmonton, and eventually moved to Red Deer, Alberta. In 1987, Pelletier received an Arts and Design Diploma from Red Deer College. Pelletier and her husband, Andy Pelletier, raised three children. Pelletier was enthusiastic about arts and culture, and sat on the Board of Directors for Visual Arts Alberta and frequently volunteered for the Red Deer Museum. Pelletier’s work was primarily shown in the early 1990’s in Central Alberta at both solo and group exhibitions. Pelletier enjoyed outdoor activities, such as: curling, golfing, and skiing. Pelletier’s enjoyment of the great outdoors, seems to have transfered to her artwork, as the subject matter of her collection is generally found outdoors. Pelletier is a mixed media artist, who uses collage, pastels, charcoal, and acrylic paint (or a subset thereof), to create expressive pieces. Pelletier passed away January 7, 2005 after a quick but valiant battle with cancer. Pelletier’s work was recently shown in group exhibition, curated by Fiona Connell from the Art Gallery of Alberta, called The Essence of Landscape. The works shown in this exhibition focus primarily on conveying the emotion of the land they are depicting, rather than the realism of the scene.
