Simon Black was born in England in 1965. After graduating with a BFA from the Norwich School of Art, he worked as an assistant to sculptor Sir Anthony Caro for three years. Black moved to Canada in 1992 to do a master's degree at the University of Alberta. He has attended workshops in the UK, New York, and France, and currently works and resides in Edmonton.
