ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Megan Dickie received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary (1997) and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Saskatchewan (2002). She has taught at the Universi-ty of Saskatchewan, the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, the Vancouver Island School of Art, and in the department of Curriculum and Instruction at the University of Victoria. She is now an Assistant Professor in the University of Victoria’s department of Visual Art. Her creative prac-tice and research uses sculpture, video, and printmaking to explore the seductive tension that ex-ists between reason and play by subverting systems and structures with critically deployed hu-mour. Dickie has regularly exhibited artwork and curatorial projects since 1997 in Canadian and inter-national solo and group exhibitions and print biennials hosted by venues including Open Space Arts Society (Victoria, B.C.), Nanaimo Art Gallery, Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Art Gallery of the South Okanagan, Contemporary Art Gallery of Vancouver, Toronto Urban Film Festival, and Mjóddin, a large shopping district/mall in Reykjavik, Iceland. She has given public talks at universities and galleries throughout British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Dickie has received numerous project assistance and creation grants from the British Columbia Arts Council and the Canada Council for the Arts. Her work is held in the collections of the Alberta Founda-tion for the Arts, the University of Calgary’s Nickle Galleries, and the University of Saskatche-wan.
