ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: |
Janice Rahn has written widely about the poetics and politics of popular culture in art. Her book, Painting Without Permission: an ethnographic study of hip hop graffiti culture, was printed by Bergin and Garvey of Greenwood Press, 2002. Rahn's practice is interdisciplinary, crossing boundaries within art and academic disciplines, and includes documentary videos and more experimental audio/video installations. Currently, she is writing a book called New media as art material, and a chapter on video for a handbook on arts-based research methods. |
