ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Visual artist Michael Coolidge was born in Edmonton, Alberta in 1977. He attended the Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary, where he earned his Bachelor of Fine Art in sculpture. Michael has been very active with the Alberta College of Art + Design, including lecturing and serving on the board. He also worked at the SKEW Gallery and served in various capacities with the ArtCity Festival and the Visual Arts Week Society, in Calgary. His photographs, installations and sculptures have been shown in a variety of exhibitions throughout Canada. Michael is currently based in Montréal. Some of Michael’s work explores photography through a pinhole camera, creating extraordinary pictures with an ethereal quality. Michael has also explored landscape photography and the way it is depicted in motion pictures. Through these photographs, Michael brings together new cinematography, Romanticism and traditional landscape photography.
