HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH:

Les Blés d'Or is a French-Canadian folk dance groupe from Saint-Paul, Alberta. It was formed in 1973 and toured throughout Alberta, Saskatchewan, Quebec, the Northwest Territories and Europe. They performed at the Expo '86 in Vancouver, at two celebrations of Dieppe Raid in France, and at the opening ceremonies of the 1988 Olympic Winter Games in Calgary. The company also runs a folk dance school and, in 1979, formed another dance group, for seniors, named Les Tourbillions.

The Blés d'Or also made cultural research during the 1970s, the results of which were collected life histories of francophone Albertans. Those were incorporated in what is known as the 'Héritage Franco-Albertain' project.
