Question Number 106
Hello, I am researching the coming of age in Canada during the Depression and I am looking for diaries that were written during the 1930s by individuals born between 1901 and 1921. Do you have any of these in your database? Thank you for your time, if you could please email me back either way that would be fantastic. I am also looking for personal correspondences as well.
Archival records are normally arranged and described under the name of the individual (or organization) who created the records. Unlike library books, they are not arranged thematically or by subject.
The Provincial Archives of Alberta certainly holds a large number of personal diaries and correspondence, but these records are not readily searchable by time period or subject matter. A search on the Archives Network of Alberta (ANA) database turns up some possibly relevant items:

Note that not all of the holdings of the Provincial Archives of Alberta are as yet searchable online. Note also that this database includes records held at other archives, as well as the Provincial Archives.
