Question Number 167

I live in a homestead house which was moved by my Grandfather to town. Where can I find background info on it? Is there any grant money/loans available for making this home energy efficient?

The Provincial Archives of Alberta holds homestead application records for the time period ca. 1880 -1930. These records normally provide some information on the house constructed by the homesteader. Depending on the town and the time period that the house was relocated, there may also be photographs available that show the building.

The Provincial Archives does not provide any funding for home renovations. You may wish to check with your local municipal government to determine what may be available.
