I have records showing my grandfather was admitted to the Ponoka Mental Hospital in 1962. I'm told that records during that period were destroyed in a flood and it was to expensive to save them. Can you elaborate on this as I'm unable to access anymore information than what I've been told by the hospital.
The Provincial Archives of Alberta holds some administrative records from Ponoka Hospital, but only one register of patients (1904-1935). If any patient records from 1962 still exist, they would remain in the custody of the hospital:
