Question Number 193

I am researching the history of the Alberta Association of the Canadian Institute of Planners, which prior to 1976 was called the Alberta Association of the Town Planning Institute of Canada. The association was formally incorporated under the Societies Act (R.S.A 1955) on 2 Dec 1963. We don't know who the presidents of the association were between 1963 and 1975. I assume that the association needed to submit annual reports to the provincial Office of the Registrar of Joint Stock Companies and that if so, each report would have indicated who the president of the day was. Will you please let me know if the Provincial Archives have such reports?

The Provincial Archives of Alberta holds some records (including council minutes) of the AACIP, but these only begin in 1975.

As far as we can determine, Service Alberta has not yet transferred any corporate registry records to the Provincial Archives. These records presumably still remain with Service Alberta. The Corporate Registry can be reached at (780) 427-7013.
