The Provincial Archives of Alberta holds a newspapers for various communities in Alberta for 1979 and 1980. A list is available on our website: http://culture.alberta.ca/archives/referenceservices/newspapers/default.aspx.

As none of these newspapers are indexed, however, to locate an obituary for a specific individual, it would be necessary to know both where in Alberta and when that person died.

You are welcome to visit the Provincial Archives in person to review our holdings; there is no charge to use the facilities.

In the alternative, contract researchers are available to search these records on your behalf. The rate is Cdn$40 per hour (minimum of 1 hour, prepaid).

The Provincial Archives of Alberta requires payment in advance for all orders. We can accept Visa and MasterCard, or we can invoice you. The research will commence once payment has been received. There is a Cdn$3.00 mail-out charge, and GST is charged on all Canadian orders. Unfortunately, the Provincial Archives cannot accept personal cheques.
