Question Number 455
Do you have birth certificates from 1950?
The Provincial Archives of Alberta does not hold any birth certificates.
You can order birth certificates through a Registry Agent. For information about registry agents, contact 780-427-7013 (in Alberta, you can also dial 310-0000, then 780-427-7013).
You can visit the Vital Statistics website for more information:

The Archives holds records of the civil registration of births, marriages, and deaths for Alberta from about 1870 to the 1980s for some communities. Records created after 1905 are organised by place; therefore it is necessary to know where in Alberta the event took place and approximately when. Please note that the Provincial Archives does not hold records for every year, nor for every community in Alberta. Records not held by the Provincial Archives are still in the custody of the Vital Statistics Office. Vital statistics records cannot be photocopied, but transcripts can be provided for $10.00 per record.
