Question Number 96

I was served with divorce documents by my husband and did not contest. How do I know when the divorce is final? And how do I obtain the final decree of divorce from out of province?

It is not clear from your inquiry when or where this divorce action took place. Assuming that it commenced after 1967, records would be available from the Central Registry of Divorce Proceedings.

For records from before 1968, it is necessary to contact the specific Court where the matter was heard.
