| OTHER HOLDINGS: | Campbell, Brenda | ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Brenda Campbell studied at Sion Academy High School in Saskatchewan and graduated from the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, Alberta in 1965. She worked in a custom weaving shop before opening her own studio in 1971.
Brenda greatly enjoys the crafting aspect of weaving – she loves the yarn, and the colour and smell of wool as well as the sound of the loom. Her tapestries, hangings and rugs feature representational designs as well as landscapes. For Brenda, the excitement lies in the planning and design of each piece, while its completion brings with it a journey of personal discovery.
Brenda’s weavings have been shown in exhibitions across Canada, and in Europe and Japan. Her works are held in private collections in Canada, the United States and England. She has produced pieces for a variety of commissions, including for Alberta House in London, England; the University of Calgary; corporate buildings in Edmonton and Calgary; and an invitational exhibition in Ontario. |
