ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Dulcie Foo Fat works from postcard size photographs to create landscapes as well as figures and interiors. She aspires to create art that balances between Abstract Expressionism and Photorealism. She is best known for her ground scapes of the natural environment. Foo Fat obtained a Bachelor of Arts in painting from Reading University (UK) in 1969 and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Calgary in 1974. She undertook residencies in California (1985) and Ontario (1990). She has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions including a solo travelling exhibition, Dance with Minutiae: the Paintings of Dulcie Foo Fat, organized by the Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies in 1987.
Her art is included in public collections including the Glenbow Museum, Whyte Museum of the Canadian Rockies and the McMichael Canadian Collection, Mendel Art Gallery and the Universities of Calgary and Lethbridge. Foo Fat teaches at Alberta College of Art + Design in Calgary. |
