ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Wendy Black-Kostuk is an Interior Designer, Facility Planner, and Fibre Artist whose career began in 1972 when she graduated from the University of Manitoba with a degree in Interior Design. In the years between 1972 & 1980, she worked for the University of Saskatchewan and various architectural and design firms, then went on to design and project manage 5 international projects for the Alberta Government in London, Tokyo and Hong Kong. Her career as a fibre artist began professionally in 1980 when her fibre art piece "Rainbow Of A Different Contour", was accepted into the first juried fibre art exhibition, "Fibrations", for the Alberta 75th Anniversary. Since then she has completed many interior design and fibre artworks and participated in 11 group and 2 two-person exhibitions in Alberta, Saskatchewan and Toronto, and won awards for both her interior design and fibre artwork. For 21 years, while living in Saskatoon, she was a member of the Saskatchewan Craft Council, serving on their Board of Directors for 2 years. She is an active member of the Alberta Craft Council, the International Interior Designer Association, Interior Designers of Alberta, Interior Designers of Saskatchewan, and Interior Designers of Canada.
