ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Jim Hauser was raised on a farm northeast of Medicine Hat, near Hilda, Alberta. This gave him early exposure to rural range life. From a young age, Jim loved drawing. His favorite subject was animals, especially horses. When Jim was older, he worked at a variety of cow camps in southeast Alberta. He has worked at the Remount Grazing Pasture, near Bindloss (ninety-six kilometres north of Medicine Hat). It is a project funded by a partnership between the provincial government and local municipalities to aid ranchers, by providing grazing land. It is from these experiences that Hauser draws. Hauser's work can be found in many private and public collections, such as the City of Medicine Hat, Stockman's Memorial Foundation, the 400 Club in Calgary, and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
