ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Adeline Rockett is a landscape painter who works primarily in watercolours. Her focus is on capturing the light on the land during the changing seasons, and she has traveled across the country to spend time within different landscapes and to paint on location. Rockett closely observes and explores the qualitative effects of light on water, snow and ice. In the early 1990’s, this continuous exploration led her to travel and paint in the Arctic, where she created several series of works in both watercolour and acrylic, capturing her experiences there. Rockett has been involved with both the Canadian Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Alberta Society of Artists, and in 2000, she won the Millennium Art Competition that was run through the Conservation Council of Canada, and the Canada Millennium Partnership Program. Her winning piece hangs in Ottawa at the Conservation Hall of Fame. Rockett received her Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education degrees at the University of Saskatchewan in the 1960’s, and her Master in Art Education from the University of Alberta in 1974. She has had numerous solo shows and group exhibitions, and her work is in over seventy corporate and public collections throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe, including the Royal Collection of Drawings and Watercolours in Windsor Castle, England.
