ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Kenneth (Ken) Webb works in etching, drawing, aquatint and mixed media. He seamlessly incorporates printed photographic images, graphic elements and the handmade painted object into his works. Influenced by his time in England, his subjects combine historical and contemporary architectural elements. Webb studied at the Alberta College of Art in Calgary, graduating in 1976 with Honours. He later attended the Royal College of Art in London, England for post-graduate studies (1977-78). He has taught at the University of Calgary and at the Alberta College of Art + Design, and is a professional printer having established his own printing company, Ken Webb Fine Art Printing (1981-87). Webb has shown with John Ramsay Contemporary Art in Vancouver, BC; Paul Kuhn Gallery in Calgary, AB; Mira Goddard Gallery in Toronto, ON and in numerous international exhibitions. Webb’s work has been published in the books Hidden Values: Contemporary Canadian Art in Corporate Collections (Robert Swain), Printmaking in Alberta: 1945 – 1985 (Bente Roed Cochran), Sitelines: Printmaking and Image Culture (Walter Jule) and An Alberta Chronicle: Adventures in Recent and Contemporary Art (Mary-Beth Laviolette). In 2002, Kenneth Webb received the Award of Excellence from the Alberta College of Art + Design. His work is held in many public collections including the Canada Council Art Bank (Ottawa, ON), the Glenhyrst Art Gallery of Brant (Brantford, ON), the Art Gallery of Victoria (BC), the Alberta Foundation for the Arts (Edmonton, AB), the Glenbow Museum (Calgary, AB), and the Winnipeg Art Gallery, (MB) as well as in numerous corporate collections.
