ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Linda Chow is a professional and award-winning goldsmith with diverse experience in the jewellery industry. She trained at the Alberta College of Art (now the Alberta College of Art and Design, Calgary, AB), the Gemological Institute of America (Toronto, ON), and Swest Inc. (Los Angeles, CA), and she is known for her high level of jewellery making skill and her creative methods of teaching. Her work has evolved from traditional jewellery to wearable sculptural forms. Having spent most of her life in Calgary, a prairie city, Chow has developed a strong connection to its surrounding rolling fields and big skies. For several years, her jewellery-making has focused on the Canadian prairies and their vanishing ways of life. Chow regularly exhibits regionally, nationally, and internationally, notably at the Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths in London, England (1995). She continually enters jewellery design competitions and has won awards including First Place at Refine, biennial art metals and jewelry competition hosted by Stephen Austin State University, Texas. She has taught jeweling and metalwork since 2001 at the Alberta College of Art and Design, Red Deer College, and the Metchosin International Summer School of the Arts (Victoria, BC). Chow has been a member of the Alberta Craft Council since 1989 and she is a co-founder of Art InformAll in Calgary: a group comprised of artists of different disciplines that meets monthly to exchange information and knowledge about their practices. Her work is held in numerous private collections in Canada, the United States, England, Germany, Singapore, and Hong Kong.
