| OTHER HOLDINGS: | Bernhardt, Paul | ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Paul Bernhardt paintings are based on his drawings of the places and structures that he feels reflect contemporary life in the Edmonton region and other sites around Alberta. Bernhardt was born in Uxbridge, Ontario, and relocated to Alberta in 2007. He holds a BA in psychology and history from Wilfred Laurier University, Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario (1993), a BFA in painting and drawing from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design, Halifax (2003) and an MFA in Studio Arts - painting from Purchase College, New York (2007). While attending Purchase College, Bernhardt twice received the Dean’s Scholar Award.
Paul Bernhardt has been a member of the Edmonton Arts Council Public Art Selection Committee and has participated in the Artist in Residence Program at the Memory Disability Clinic at the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. He participates in artist talks and panels and has served as a Visiting Artist to Brock University in St. Catharines, Ontario and to the University of Alberta’s Augustana Campus in Camrose, Alberta. His work is represented in collections in North America and Europe and has exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Purchase, New York and at galleries, museums and festivals across Canada.
