ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | David Bowering is a photographer who lives and works in St. Albert, Alberta. Bowering’s photographs have been featured in local media as well as in other publications and newspapers such as the New York Times and the Sunday Times (UK). He completed two commissioned photo documentaries, Oil Sands and Pipeline, for the North American Construction Company. His work exhibits regularly in Edmonton and area galleries.
In 2010 and 2011, Bowering spent several months embedded with the Canadian Forces, the US Army and the US Marines in Afghanistan producing the documentary video and photography project Afghanistan Through My Lens. This experience led to his being honoured with an Honorary Knight of the Order of St. Michael Medal from the Army Aviation Association of America for bravery exemplified while embedded in Afghanistan.
Before becoming a professional photographer, Bowering travelled the world working in heavy construction and as a stage and lighting technician in the music industry. Bowering was born in Virden, Manitoba.
