ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Tim Belliveau graduated with a BFA from the Alberta College of Art and Design in Calgary in 2005. His work has evolved around a solo practice in illustration and sculptural glass works that are created through a collaborative process as part of Bee Kingdom Glass. Belliveau founded Bee Kingdom Glass along with two classmates from ACAD, Phillip Bandura and Ryan Fairweather, converting a Calgary bungalow into a collective art studio, gallery and living space. Bee Kingdom produces blown glass centrepieces, vases, chandeliers and custom wall pieces in addition to numerous commissioned works. Through Bee Kingdom, Belliveau has received the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta’s Emerging Artist Award and was named one of Avenue Calgary magazine’s Top 40 under 40.
Tim Belliveau teaches drawing and hot glass, and in 2010 he served on a Parks Canada’s Youth Advisory Council coordinated by Apathy is Boring in Montreal, Quebec. His works have exhibited in group and solo exhibitions in Alberta, Montreal, Berlin, Greece, Turkey and Korea. He has been a visiting artist to Espace Verre in Montreal; the Glass Furnace Studio in Ogumce, Turkey; and to the Tacoma Museum of Glass. Belliveau was born in Montreal.
