| OTHER HOLDINGS: | Bruce, Kim | ARTIST BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | Kim Bruce lives and works in her home-based studio in the foothills community of Redwood Meadows, Alberta. Born in Calgary, Bruce earned an Associate Diploma in Interior Design from Mount Royal College in 1977. In 1983, she established a design firm specializing in image development and commercial space planning for local, national and international clients. She continued to practice her art and studied under established artists, completing workshops in drawing, painting and sculpture, as well as silversmithing and jewellery, from the Alberta College of Art and Design, the University of Calgary and Red Deer College. In 2000, she sold her firm and began practicing as an artist full-time.
Bruce is a multimedia visual artist working mostly in sculpture. Her work has been included regularly in shows with Alberta galleries, including Artspace, the Leighton Centre and as part of Art Walk with Calgary’s Artcity Festival. She has participated in shows in North America and Europe. She is a member of the Burns Visual Art Society and the Untitled Art Society. She is also a contributor to the Virtual Shoe Museum, and in 2013 her experimental shoe designs were included in the Starker Auftritt! Stepping into the Limelight! Exhibition at the GRASSI Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Leipzig, Germany. Bruce is a writer and blogger who gives talks and workshops through Alberta arts organizations about establishing artist websites and an online presence.
