ADMINISTRATIVE
HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: At a meeting on April 3, 1974, a representative from the Overture Concert Association of Canada met with members of the Edmonton Community Concerts Association to encourage their affiliation with the Overture Concert Association of Canada; the Edmonton Community Concerts Association had been presenting concerts since 1969 through Columbia Artists. The Edmonton Overture Concert Association was incorporated December 6, 1974 under the Societies Act. The objectives of the Association were to arrange concerts and recitals in Edmonton and area under the guidance and direction of the Overture Concert Association of Canada. As well, the Association hoped to build and maintain a permanent concert audience on a membership basis by presenting established, professional performers in concerts and recitals and to encourage and promote engagements for Canadian artists of merit. The Association was governed by a board of directors. The Association dissolved in 1985.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The fonds consists of the records of the Edmonton Overture Concert Association and includes minutes, agenda, programs, financial statements, and a cashbook.
ASSOCIATED MATERIAL: Records of other Overture Concert Associations are available at the Medicine Hat Museum and Art Gallery, the Alberni District Historical Society Archives and the White Rock Museum and Archives.

Alan Bell also deposited the records from his time as vice-president, Alberta region of the Association of Canadian Clubs, available in accession PR1999.0897.
