HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: In 1966, Edmonton City Council approved a proposal from the Rotary Club to reconstruct Fort Edmonton in the form of a heritage attraction. In 1967, the City of Edmonton purchased the Danard Great Northwest Pioneer Village to aid in the reconstruction of the fort. In 1967, the Park held a dedication ceremony. The Fort Edmonton Park Master Plan was created in 1968 to provide the framework for both immediate and future development of the Park. In 1969, the Fort Edmonton Foundation formed to manage funds toward the development of the park.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The collection consists of material commemorating the dedication ceremony of Fort Edmonton Park in 1967 collected by R.O. Harrison, Director of the Provincial Museum of Alberta. The collection includes a clipping from The Edmonton Journal, an invitation, a program, a letter requesting a copy of the dedication speech by V.M. Dantzer from R.O. Harrison to V.M. Dantzer and a reply from V.M. Dantzer, and a map of Fort Edmonton Park.
