In pursuit of their objectives, the Commission prepared proposals for local and provincial government, and analyzed the region under their management through the preparation of studies, reports, publications, and plans. In 1982, the Edmonton Regional Planning Commission became the Edmonton Regional Metropolitan Planning Commission (ERMPC) and managed a small area, more centralized within the Edmonton metropolitan area.
