HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | The North Edmonton Farmers Mutual Telephone Company was incorporated April 13, 1936, under The Companies Act. At incorporation, the capital of the company was $10,800, divided into 450 shares of $24 each. The registered office of the company was located in Edmonton, Alberta. The North Edmonton Farmers Mutual Telephone Company served an area in Edmonton north of the North Saskatchewan River, an area that had previously been served by the Rural Automatic Edmonton system. In October 1970, a committee was formed to meet with the necessary authorities to discuss the means by which the Company was to be dispersed. At some point, the North Edmonton Farmers Mutual Telephone Company would have signed an agreement with Alberta Government Telephones (AGT) agreeing that AGT would assume provision of communication services in the area. The North Edmonton Farmers Mutual Telephone Company was dissolved by its shareholders September 5, 1973. |
