He graduated in medicine from the University of Manitoba in 1917 and then served overseas as a captain in the Canadian Medical Corps. He established his own medical practice in Edmonton in 1922 and continued to practice until his death. He was an honorary member of the Edmonton Academy of Medicine, an honorary life member of St. John’s Ambulance Association, and a lecturer at Edmonton General and Misericordia Hospitals. He and his wife Charlotte (Lottie) had three children, Queena, Naomi, and Cecil. Dr. Wershof was active in the Jewish community and was a president of the Edmonton B’nai Brith Lodge, the Edmonton Zionist Council, Edmonton chairman for the Friends of Bar-Ilan Universities and a co-honouree at the first Negev Dinner held in Edmonton in 1954. He died in 1972, survived by his wife Charlotte. Charlotte Wershof, born 1902, was a nurse by training and the president of the Victorian Order of Nurses, Edmonton Chapter circa 1961. She was also active in the Jewish community and was founding president of the Jewish National Fund in Edmonton, a past president and life member of the Edmonton Hadassah-WIZO, and a vice president of the Emunah/Mizrachi Edmonton Chapter.
