Church members met on an interim basis first at York Elementary School and later Kildare School and the congregation was informally known as Kildare United Church. By 1969, the congregation had adopted the name of McClure United Church in honour of Robert McClure, the first layperson to be elected as moderator of the United Church of Canada. In January, 1970, the congregation was constituted as a congregation within Edmonton Presbytery. McClure United Church operated as a shared ministry with Beverly United Church in 1973 and secured a full-time minister in 1975. The congregation worshipped in rented space at Kildare School from 1967-1970 and M.E. Lazerte School from 1970-1988. The congregation began construction on a church building in 1988 and the church was dedicated in 1989. McClure United Church is located at 137 Avenue and 74 Street in northeast Edmonton and is situated in Edmonton Presbytery.
