The results of his summaries contributed to the formation of the North West Mounted Police in 1873.
CUSTODIAL HISTORY:Lt. Col. Robertson-Ross's granddaughter sent the material to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police office in Ottawa. The RCMP made a copy of the diary, and in 1960 G.B. McClellan, Deputy Commissioner of the RCMP, gave a copy to the Premier's Office in Edmonton, Alberta for deposit in the Provincial Archives of Alberta. The Executive Secretary of the Premier's Office then forwarded the material to the Provincial Secretary of Alberta.
