SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of records from Special Manpower Programs Branch, whose mandate was to develop and implement programs and services to meet special employment needs for Albertans such as the Summer Temporary Employment Program and the Priority Employment Program, and to participate in federal employment programming; and to plan, develop and coordinate special placement related services.
This series contains reports, surveys, statistics, and correspondence regarding the creation of jobs and monthly training programs relating to the Priority Employment Program, the Summer Temporary Employment Program, and the Alberta Wage Subsidy Program.
This series also contains client case files for individuals participating in federally funded employment programs operated and monitored for Alberta by the Department. The two federal programs documented are the National Employment Examination and Development Program, and the National Industrial Training Program.
The Provincial Archives selected these files as samples of the operations of the Branch.
