SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of records from the Career Development Sector, whose mandate was to contribute to human and economic growth by assisting Albertans to improve the pattern and quality of career transitions between school, training, work and retirement. A range of programs and services were offered through career counselling, career resources and special manpower programs.
The series consists of administrative records of the Division including acts and legislation, records of the Cold Lake Coordinating Committee, monthly statistics of the Alberta Career Centres, monthly reports of Employment Counselling and Relocation Services; records related to federal employment programs, and records documenting the employment of immigrants and refugees and other special needs groups.
As well there are records containing general information on the settlement of immigrants and information relating to the operations of the Reception and Settlement Services Program, correspondence, proposals, programs, projects and agreements relating to special needs groups, and correspondence on the establishment, organization, and operations of projects, task forces and working groups that the area was involved with. Information contained here relates specifically to immigrants and first nations peoples.
These records were sampled by the Provincial Archives as evidence of the operations of the Career Development Sector.
