| SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of records that document the two mandates of the Companies Branch: the responsibility to facilitate orderly business development in the province through the incorporation of Alberta-based corporations, the registration of extra-provincial corporations, and to provide assistance in the formation of non profit-sharing corporations; and the responsibility to maintain a repository of corporate information. The records include: ledgers indicating the registration of various companies, societies, cooperative societies, credit unions and congregations (1905-1978); certificates of incorporation of Masonic Lodges throughout Alberta, which include lists of officers and correspondence (1903-1977); sample files of companies and societies that were refused incorporation (1905-1978); and incorporation information for the Great War Veterans' Association (1917-1946) and the Veterans' Volunteer Reserve (1940-1946). |
