This series contains plans and specifications related to construction and renovation projects for school buildings funded by Alberta Education for public school districts, separate school districts, and consolidated school districts.
The plans in Accession GR1988.0461 are arranged chronologically by date of plan and include over 13,600 individual items, including plans, specifications and contracts for school buildings. Note that Items 1317 to 1347 in this Accession contain plans that are not directly related to the function for school buildings: included are random plans for schools in Saskatchewan and Quebec, for provincially owned properties such as Government of Alberta buildings, Provincial Buildings, government hospitals, and also for privately owned properties such golf and country clubs, hotels, shopping centres, oil bulk stations, and town and settlement plans located in Alberta.
The plans in Accession GR1975.0455 are arranged by school district number. Included are plans, specifications and contracts for specific school buildings across Alberta, as well as a small amount of generic plans for one- and two-room school houses and teacherages that were built throughout Alberta. Finally there are also several plans for school buildings in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. At this point in time the number of individual items is unknown due to the arrangement and description practices used when the accession was processed, but it is known there are 800 sets of plans, as well as the related specifications for the plans, totally comprising 12 m of records.
