SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of operational records from the Alberta School for the Deaf. The mandate of the School for the period of the records was to provide educational, child care and related services for the deaf and hard of hearing.
The records include classroom and student registers; copies of grade nine and twelve departmental exams, exam keys and correspondence on scholarships and medals; information on student activities and School programming such as student organizations, sports activities and events, summer and winter education programs, religious instruction, school graduations and the Living Skills Program; policies, procedures and guidelines for staff and students; information on School calendars and School openings and closings; information on speech and audiology programming, curriculum development, and testing and evaluations of students and school programming; information on student report card administration and teacher administration; files documenting students that were attending other schools prior to the establishment of the School as well as medical histories for some School students; records from the Dean of Residence, the School Principal, the Bursar’s Office, and the School Superintendent; and miscellaneous files documenting interpreter services, special projects, School financing; student enrollment; and student exchange grant programs.
