| SCOPE AND CONTENT: | Series consists of records documenting the Department of Health activities directing and coordinating aspects of public health in Alberta. The series consists of records from the Special Health Services branch which was administered by the former Department of Social Services and Community Health. The records were used by the Department of Health in the fulfillment of its legislated mandate before being transferred to the Provincial Archives. Records include correspondence and reports regarding various associations such as the Alberta Dental Association, the Alberta Optometric Association, and the Guild of Ophthalmic Dispensers. Series also consists of records pertaining to health services programs that serviced the Indian and northern communities of Alberta. |
