| SCOPE AND CONTENT: | Series consists of Department of Social Services and Community Health records documenting the department's responsibility for providing social services programs in the province, including the operation of treatment homes, day care facilities and single men's hostels. The series contains records from the Homes and Institutions Division and includes architectural drawings for various treatment centres for emotionally disturbed children and day care facilities. Series also contains records of the Persona Care men's hostel in Calgary, Alberta, which operated as a temporary home for transient men who were unemployed and without funds to pay for their own maintenance. |
