SCOPE AND CONTENT: The subseries consists of records created by the Land Titles Office in Calgary, which served as the registry for the Southern Alberta Land Registration District. The records include daybooks, ledgers of land registrations, tax arrears lists (1925-1961), specimen correspondence (1926 and 1954), land assessment ledgers (1913), photographs of the Land Titles Office (1909), and a salary list (1914).

GENERAL NOTE: Currently, the records relating to the land titles registry for the Province of Alberta are permanently retained by the Land Titles Offices in Edmonton and Calgary.

Researchers seeking to learn who owned the property before the current owners can request a historical search from either Land Titles Office. Researchers may be required to provide reference title numbers, owner's name, and legal description to locate a historical title. Some historical titles are available on the Alberta Land Titles Automation (ALTA) system while others are on microfilm or microfiche depending on when the titles were cancelled.

Historical title searches may be ordered through the Alberta Registries Spatial Information (SPIN 2) System or local Registry Agents.
