ADMINISTRATIVE
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The series consists of records created by the Office of the Clerk pertaining to the administration and operations of the Judicial District of Macleod. The records comprise appointments of and instructions to deputy clerks and process issuers; public meetings and petitions for town projects, including the Fort Macleod Courthouse; examination and enrollment of local lawyers; registration of documents; issuing of prosperity certificates; conviction returns and lists of cases; drafts of civil and criminal court documents; translator’s oaths; as well as appeals, complaints and other documents submitted to the Clerk. The series also includes gun permits (1921-1923) as well as exhibits submitted to the court as supporting documentation to legal matters, such as correspondence and accounts of the Oxley Ranch Company (1882-1886); E.B. Senton’s malting records from Pincher Creek; unidentified hotel registers; and financial records of the Clear Lake School District No. 1123.
