SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of records created by Edward P. McNeill (1863-1954), a lawyer who practiced in Fort Macleod from 1899-1913 until his appointment as a judge of the District Court of Alberta. The series includes client files (1882-1913) pertaining to land sales, mortgages, partnerships, agreements and contracts, wills and estates, brands, and civil litigation, including representing the Hudson’s Bay Company in overdue accounts cases as well as business dealings with banker John Cowdry and rancher Edward Maunsell. The series also comprises files pertaining to the administration of his law practice (1902-1910) as well as his personal business interests (1898-1912). |
