SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series consists of the records of the Public Affairs Bureau pertaining to the planning, development and coordination of public relations and communications activities for the Government of Alberta. The records include policies, procedures, correspondence, minutes, research reports and public opinion surveys, publications, artwork, posters, background and support information about specific communications issues, business plans, briefing documents, speeches, itineraries, program details, presentations, proposals, communications plans, media accreditation and coordination plans, news releases, files regarding visitor and hospitality grants, and portfolio and departmental files pertaining to coordination of communications activities within government ministries. The subjects of the records include international cultural and economic missions abroad by Alberta cabinet ministers and others, visits by journalists, free trade, aboriginal issues, the Olympics, royal and papal visits, international fairs and exhibitions promoting Alberta such as Expo 86, and celebrations such as the RCMP centennial celebrations from 1973-1975 and the Alberta centenary in 2005. The files also include records pertaining to emergency communications services within Alberta as well as the development of plain language programs within government. |
