ADMINISTRATIVE
HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Centralta association of the ACFA was created in 1975 at the house of Madame Simone Chauvet in Legal. Originally created to serve the communities of Morinville, Legal and Vimy, the association was intended to organize, coordinate and develop cultural and social activities for francophones in the region. The new association was incorporated under the ACFA's name in 1977 in order to secure better funding from Provincial and Federal granting agencies. Since then, the association has worked to provide better access to cultural activities and services for the local French community.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The sous-fonds consists of board of directors and regional president’s records such as meeting minutes, correspondence, grant applications and annual reports; various projects and activities files, research projects and publications, periodicals of ACFA Centralta, special committees records; reports, membership lists; bylaws, press clippings, pamphlets, media releases; development records including budgets, planning, campaigns and special events; records of other Francophone organizations in the area; also included are audio recorded interviews with Francophone pioneers of the area, as well as digital renditions of mural paintings and of historical paintings realized as ACFA Centralta’s projects.
