HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: The Sisters of the Assumption were called to Bonnyville by the parish priest in 1937. This invitation was accepted for September 1938. The Sisters settled in the school while waiting for the completion of their convent. The number of students and Sisters increased quickly, but towards the 1960s important changes started to take place. The convent did not receive boarders anymore, the Principal's position was taken by a layman and the number of Sisters decreased rapidly. In 1968 only three Sisters were left in Bonnyville and the convent was sold.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: The series includes the school and convent records. It consists of chronicles (1938-1970), financial records (1938-1960), list of students (1946-1960), school publication (1961-1963), newspaper clippings (1957-1979).
