HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: In 1924 the Saint-Vincent parish priest was faced with the difficulties of finding teachers for the school and he asked the Sisters of the Assumption to work in Saint-Vincent. In 1929 when the Sisters proposed to move from Wetaskiwin, the Archbishop of Edmonton consented upon the condition they would go to Saint-Vincent. The Sisters agreed. The school population was relatively stable. It increased to eighty-four students in 1934 but soon decreased to seventy because sections of the Saint-Vincent area were removed to form the parishes of Mallaig and Thérien. In 1950 a school dormitory was built and entrusted to the Sisters. The new construction was created in order to solve the issue of the frequent absences of the students caused by the bad state of the roads. The increase in enrollment made it possible in 1953 to open high school classes. But in 1964 secondary education was centralized and Saint-Vincent was left with only elementary classes and two Sisters. The authorities of the Congregation decided then to recall the Sisters.
