HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: | The Sisters of the Assumption opened their school in Thérien in September 1941 with sixty-nine students from grades 1 to 10. In 1950 the Sisters built their own convent which was also used as the school. The 1960s witnessed the progressive decline of the school which closed in 1969. The convent was emptied at the same time; the building was recuperated and hauled in 1971 to serve as a residence for the Sisters at Bonnyville. |
SCOPE AND CONTENT: | The series includes the school and convent records. It consists of chronicles (1941-1968), financial records (1941-1966), programs of special events (1944-1964), inventories (1941-1963), list of graduating students (1943-1965) and photos (1941-1968). |
