Mr. Seymour was one of the key players in the evolution of the Alberta Progressive Conservative Party in terms of its formation as the Official Opposition in 1965, and subsequently the Provincial Government in 1971. He was Peter Lougheed's personal Campaign Manager in Mr. Lougheed's constituency of Calgary West, and then became responsible for the television advertising spots and was an over-all strategist on election campaigns. He was the Campaign Manager for the Progressive Conservative Party over the course of four elections. From 1971 to 1979, Mr. Seymour was Director of the Southern Alberta Premier's Office. With the advent of the provincial-federal tensions over the proposed National Energy Policy, Mr. Seymour was moved to Ottawa as provincial liaison with the federal government. Following this, the Alberta government opened an office in New York City, to which Mr. Seymour was appointed Agent-General. In 1991, Mr. Seymour retired and returned to Calgary with his wife Claire.
