During his lifetime, Lt. Col. Bryce Saunders worked as an engineer, a surveyor, the Commissioner of Public Works for Edmonton, and was the consulting engineer for the city until his death. Esther Saunders was very active in many women’s organizations throughout her life. The Saunders’ daughter, Marjorie, married Robert MacFarlane Dingwall. The Dingwalls were also very active in the Edmonton social and business community during the early to mid 1900s. Like her mother, Marjorie was also active in many women’s organizations and travelled extensively throughout the world. Robert Dingwall worked as an engineer his entire life and served as a captain in the First World War. Later in his lifetime he began painting and studying art, and with his wife became very active in Edmonton’s cultural life. | SCOPE AND CONTENT: | Fonds consists of the personal and business records of the Saunders and Dingwall families. The fonds has been divided into the following series: Lieutenant Colonel Bryce Johnston Saunders; Esther Kincaid Saunders; Marjorie Saunders Dingwall; and Robert MacFarlane Dingwall.
