ADMINISTRATIVE
HISTORY/BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH: Sydney Earnest Palmer left England and moved to Canada in 1909. He settled for a while in Manitoba before serving in France during the Second World War. He served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons and achieved the rank of Lance Corporal. Upon his return to Canada he moved to Strathcona, Alberta around 1920 and established a dairy farm. He married his wife Joanna in 1924.
SCOPE AND CONTENT: Fonds consists of records relating to Palmer’s military and farming activities including diaries, correspondence, postcards, receipts and certificates.

LANGUAGE NOTE: The language used in the records is predominantly English, but there are some postcards written in French.
GENERAL NOTE: Records comprising the Curtis Hoover Fonds are intermingled in the Sydney Palmer Fonds.
